No Rest for the Wicked
I honestly feel evil today. I'm not really any meaner, or louder, or dirtier, or anything like that--I'm just super lazy. I would probably commit any number of terrible atrocities if I thought they would be an end to the means--the end being a nap--or even a chance to sit down with my eyes closed for an extended period of time.
I rather dislike Thursdays. They let me know how much I depend on Robert--especially now. That man does pretty much everything but breathe for me. Alas, he 'forgot' to make me and the kids dinner ;-}. Guess I'll make pizza again tonight--or maybe spaghetti--or maybe just some cheese sticks and some apple juice.
Then again, watching Robert work makes me feel even more tired. What has he done since we've been home? (not counting taking care of the kids almost all day)
Unpacked from our trip all by himself--unless you count the three or four trips I took (we even brought a U-haul back--I told him to call someone to help, but he had it done before I could find the ward list).
Finished framing the basement except for the last wall (we need it open so we can get the tub in more easily).
Started the electrical and drywall.
Painted the new storage room floor and wall, and Moved most of the food onto the fancy new shelves from his parents.
Put in a door.
Started prepping the three bedrooms upstairs for carpeting--including shopping around for the best deal, getting my approval (no easy task), removing furniture, handling the estimate guy, and soon he'll tear up the carpets and put up the tack strips around the edges of the room and we'll (err. . . umm. . . he'll mostly) paint two of the rooms. We'll have about one day (maybe two) to put all of the furniture back before my parents come--two days before the baby--his response--'that's plenty of time.' I believe him, too. He's that crazy. He wants to get it all done before school starts again.
Later this summer he hopes to: put in a driveway, cut out two of the windows in the basement for a new guest bedroom and replace all of the others, install a tub and sink in the basement bathroom, drywall all of the walls, mud and texturize and paint the walls, install the internet downstairs, build counters in the laundry room, build a playroom under the stairs, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting.
We had planned on a carport and a backyard fence, but I think he cut those out. Let's not loose our minds, now :D.
Oh, Oh, and I should mention--at his parents a router chewed up the top of his finger--he had 8 stitches--he's been working with that!
What have I done since we've gotten back? It seems like there should have been something. I did some nice couponing--two trips (I dropped off Robert and the kids at a park for the duration). I went to a birthday party (couldn't handle both kids, so I left Nana at home--with Robert). I put up a bulletin board (although Robert helped). I loaded the dishwasher once and unloaded it twice. I made a pizza, spaghetti, taco soup, another pizza, cheese sticks, yogurt, pudding cups, and leftovers for dinners (I also made Nana a PB&J once--but Robert's mostly done lunches). Ummmm. . . I push play on Nana's movies (when Robert doesn't). I gave the kids a bath a few times (Robert would have, but his finger. . . he still did a couple times). I did a few loads of laundry (they aren't folded yet). Well. . . you get the idea. I feel horribly lazy, and horribly bad about it, because Robert has done SO much (and a lot of it was with Eenie and Nana underfoot--Eenie is cute with a hammer). I didn't even talk about all the car stuff he's done, or the shopping, or the meetings he's had. . . Ugh, I'm going to go clean something so I don't feel as evil.

Possibly One of the Busiest Times of My Life
Sat. Michelle came for a visit. We shopped for Robert's birthday.
Mon. and Tues. she helped Robert watch the kids while I finished up my independent study class (6 of the 8 total required lessons! in five days!). Tues. was my birthday.
Wed. we drove her down to Pittsburgh to see the sites and take her to the airport..
That night, some incredible friends gave me and another friend a baby shower--we were completely spoiled. (I can't wait to have a girl).
Thurs. Robert had to cram. Fri. Robert took a test.
Sat. was the primary activity. I took my midterm right after. We also realized we don't have another Sat. to see some people, so we had a very small barbecue. And we tried to clean up the house and pack.

Sun. I had sharing time. We left after church for DC.
Mon. we met up with Michelle and Heidi (Robert's sisters) and toured two smithsonians and the Washington monument. I decided I hate walking. Heidi and Michelle watched the kids while we went stargazing. We got to see saturn and 4 of its moons. We found a really nice hotel.

Tues. another smithsonian, Lincoln and Jefferson monuments. Robert and Joanna went swimming, and Enoch went to sleep before 1 or 2 in the morning (for the first time in three nights).
Do you like our "mommy stroller?"
Wed. Arlington, DC temple, outlets, long drive home.

Thurs. Midwife appt. (baby's breech--I have to do 10 min. exercizes 4 times a day until she flips), Alt-erior design, finalizing independent study (requested the final!), cleaning, scout meeting. Robert crams.
Fri. Robert's test--(he's taking it as a type) and hopefully cleaning and packing for our long bout in Utah. All the laundry must be done, all the floors cleaned, the dishes finished, the bathrooms scrubbed, and the fridge and pantry cupboards cleared (to avoid more ants as well as a stinky homecoming). Robert will take in the car for inspection, and mow the lawn.
Well, I best be off--we're leaving early tomorrow morning. YIKES!

Love My Life!
Today is a good day. I have some great friends. My husband is awesome. The kids are tolerable. We're having a girl. Aaaaand I have a trillion things to do. (I much prefer that to nothing to do.)
Here's my list:
Get ready for Robert's sister Michelle (will we finally paint the baseboards and/or move around the bedrooms?)
Ward Activity tasks
Primary tasks
Visiting Teaching (I think we're going to try to visit all 5 sisters this month)
Prepare for long trips to D.C. and Utah (can we fix that portable dvd player?)
INDEPENDENT STUDY!!! (Due on June 6th! and I'm only half done!)
Is that it? I feel like I'm forgetting something. . .
I know I'd really love to add "go to the temple," but I'll probably wait until we get to Utah for that--as much as I miss it.

Here Am I
Eating a fruit tart (compliments of Angalee's most perfect recipe), enjoying the quiet in the house (feeling much less stressed about church tomorrow than I was before I found out Robert would skip out of the end of his meeting in a ward an hour and a half away for me so he can take Enoch during primary :D--let's just hope I'm able to make it through sacrament without him this time. . . lol), Joanna let me brush her hair--and she just pooped in the potty!!! I can't get her to go pee pee, but apparently pooping is her specialty (isn't that backwards?). She was so proud of herself. I'm proud of her too. Let's see if we can keep this up.
What is Robert doing? He's out getting gas for his trip tomorrow and stopping by the home improvement store to get shelves for the closet and 2x4's for framing the basement (which he was dying to do today, but I was mean and wouldn't let him start a big project right now ;D ). Can somebody stop this man?
I've definitely stopped for the evening. . . my accomplishments today:
Cleaned out both cars. Wow. Warmer weather (and the fact that Robert gives people rides once in awhile--like the missionaries, where one actually sits in the back--EEK) finally motivated me. . . and the cars sure needed it.
Did practically all the laundry in the house--including all the towels (they all needed it) and at least 4 blankets and some jackets. I think I did six or seven loads yesterday and today. And they're all folded!
The house is vaccumed (I even moved furniture), the dishes are done, the counters/shelves/closets/floors are all cleared. . . I still have tons to do (clear cupboards, food storage, tub, desk (embarrassing), mop floors, put AWAY clothes :D (I'll do this tonight--they're covering my bed, so I have to), and independent study (the whole reason I got so much done is because I didn't want to do my assignments--or do the bulletin--I'll do the bulletin tonight too).
Oh, I also reorganized the toy chest. We're only missing two block letters, one leapfrog shopping cart item, the letter "U" for the fridge phonics thingy, one puzzle peice (the fish), and a basketload of play dishes. Where do these things go? I cleaned out containers, under beds, in closets. . . the CAR. . . they should be here somewhere. . .
Oh, that reminds me. . . a few days ago Robert finally found my debit card--apparently he was using it as a bookmark in some medical book he hasn't touched for awhile. Go figure.

Good News
I promised my next post would be positive, didn't I? I suspected things had been hard for so long that they would have to be better soon :D
Good things today:
I have been able to breathe through my nose again for most of the day, and Nana didn't snore last night, so her cold must be leaving as well.
I got to eat a key-lime pie yogurt. I LOVE yogurt. We haven't been able to go grocery shopping for maybe two months (as in I've sent Robert out for the basics, but not much else). It's so nice to have a fresh stock.
Last night one of the cashiers at CVS wouldn't let me return a DVD, because she questioned my integrity (thought I was trying to return it for more money than I paid. What?!! I had the receipt). I was pretty shaken up, but today I talked with a manager and she returned it, no problem--and I was able to use up all of my ecb's on all of the things I wanted/needed to get :D
Nana, me and Enoch all took a nap today. . . at the same time!
Robert is gone for the evening again--this time he's going out with the missionaries after school and choir. That boy sure likes to keep busy. . . but I think we're gonna be able to handle it a lot better tonight (not like last night when he went to the gym). I'm gonna make dinner while the kids are still asleep, and we'll all have a movie night.
The house is rELaTivEly clean--I'm about to clean it some more right now.
Well. . . maybe that's not the MOST positive post ever, but I really am happy right now, and that's a huge improvement :D

Does the Madness Ever Stop?!
(*Exhasperation)
I just had a great day with Joanna and Enoch. Enoch took a long nap, and didn't climb onto nearly as many things as he usually does. Joanna and I played all morning. We cut shapes out of playdough, made thank-you cards for Enoch's party (finally), swung in the hammock in the basement, and a bunch of other stuff. She ate most of her lunch and all of her breakfast. She was polite and helped play with Enoch. She even accepted "no" from me when she asked for candy. . . I thought since I gave her so much attention today, we would have a great day. Hmmmmm. . .
Joanna just spilled an entire (as in I only washed Eenie once, otherwise it was full) bottle of baby shampoo all over the tub and the bathroom floor, which I have yet to clean up. I'm really upset, and Robert will come home and be upset. She did it while I was dressing Enoch after his bath, so I didn't get the shampoo out of her reach. If it weren't for the resale value of our home, I'd be seriously considering gutting the bathrooms and fixing a hose over the drain in the basement for all of our sanitary needs! I wouldn't even have to potty train Nana--just stick her naked in the basement every hour or so until she figured it out. It's times like these that I really wish ___________________________. Well, there's a couple of things I wish, actually. My biggest one might be. . . I wish Robert were here.

Busy Weekend
Valentine's Dance:
There wasn't a huge turnout, but it was decent--everyone seemed to be having fun, and I think there were only three people that I didn't see dance. I realized that I'm not as great at dancing as I used to be. I just don't move as much--or as fast. I only threw out my hip--but Robert eased it back into place. Have I mentioned I'm so glad he's going to be a D.O. I can't wait to see how the pictures of everyone turned out--It was a lot of fun to see everyone posing ;D. A huge thanks to the Stuarts for watching our kids for five hours.
Primary Activity:
The craft was super cute. The games sounded really fun. The skits went well (I wish I could have also seen what the audience saw). I think the kids had a lot of fun--I know I did. I showed up late--I felt really bad, but it looks like everything was under control without me ;D. It was nice that we got to use the decorations from the dance for the primary activity.
Tonight:
Robert's supposed to make me a steak dinner (I've become quite carniverous lately--a little odd considering I rarely want much meat--especially beef). We get to watch Cole Stuart, too, so that'll be fun. I'm hoping for a late night, and maybe a romantic movie. Pride and Prejudice, anyone?

Bummed. . .
Graduate school is hard. . . it should come with a *NOTICE* label or something. (One for the spouse, that is. . . ) I am in trouble. I need to finish an Independent study class by March--plan a last minute birthday party for Eenie for next week (Is it really that close? I have no idea who to invite; we've always just had family to our kids' parties)--deal with a bunch of rebate forms--I should use up my CVS ECB's, but I don't want to go out--figure out what is going on with Valentine's Day activities--there's no food in our house beyond ingredients that require imaginitive cooking (meaning I can't just eat cereal all day, because we have no milk). . .
I've also decided that when I go to help people I usually just come off as annoying. I remember once I was nursing Eenie (or was it Nana?) on the bathroom couch in BYU's HBLL and I noticed that there was a pair of feet under one of the stalls that never moved. I also heard sniffling. (I had been in the bathroom for over an hour--my kids take a really long time to nurse--especially when I'm using their little bodies as my writing desk.) I wanted to say something, but I left. I felt bad that I didn't say anything, so I went back about half an hour later--yup, still there. I tried to wait until the lady in the next stall left, but I was running late. So. . . I just spoke out and told the person that I had been on the couch for some time earlier and had noticed they had not moved, and wanted to know if they were okay. I am pretty much an idiot. Can you imagine what the person in the next stall must have thought? I hope she didn't think I was talking to her. . . 'Ma'am, I've noticed that you're taking a really long time, and I wanted to know if you were okay.' Of course, I never got an answer from either of them. For all I know, the lady that was in there for almost 2 hours (or more?) was just reading a really good book, and because of her cold (thus the sniffling) wanted to be near some tissues. It's one of the things I've done that haunts me every once in awhile--although I still can hope that I made someone feel a little more loved than they did before (if there was any room for any other emotion after all of the awkwardness).
Now my point--I KEEP DOING THIS! Someone will totally act like they need help (like with the sniffling), and I'll do my best to do something for them--sometimes it's hard, and sometimes I have fun doing it, but it pretty much always ends up getting me down (at least lately--and I've screwed up SO MUCH like this in the past week or so). I feel so awkward and awful and depressed that I do such silly things--ESPECIALLY when I was having fun doing them. It happens too often! I guess I'll keep "helping" people, but now you've been warned--you may feel really awkward when I do. . .

I guess I'll keep "helping" people, but now you've been warned--you may feel really awkward when I do. . .

Nothing Interesting to Say:
Hi. I felt the need to blog, but didn't have anything to say.
What's happening right at this second:
We just got home from a road trip to Pittsburgh.
JoJo's running around the house after her bath in wet hair and a diaper. . . the diaper, she tells me, is NOT stinky--it's POOPY. (Did I mention I just gave her a bath?)
Eenie's pushing keys as I type, and just found Robert's Christmas gifts: a box of thin mints and a box of Russel Stover. (I was wondering where he hid those.)
Robert's putting together the two chairs we bought today from IKEA :).
I'm getting ready to put the kids to bed, and do the laundry, hopefully watch the fifth Harry Potter with Robert, and finish what I need to do for primary.
I can still taste the Subway sandwich we all shared for dinner. I'm still kind of hungry--maybe I'll go eat a yogurt before I start any real work (or there's always Robert's chocolates ;D).
Happy New Year everybody!

Winter blahs
I went out today and shopped the sales at CVS. I got a ton of free stuff, but not everything was still in stock. I was just glad that I was able to use all of my ecb's before they expired. My bill was like 120$ and I only paid about 10$. CVS makes me happy. I was in the little pharmacy for 30 minutes. It takes me so long to shop--it's pathetic.
My family should be here tonight--I must admit, I was way excited, but now that my mom isn't coming, I'm not very excited anymore. Especially since this is probably the last chance I have to spend Christmas with everyone. I'll have tons of fun with my dad and sisters, but they're only going to be here like 4 or 5 days--not two weeks like my mom was. That's not enough time. :P
Joanna's been trying to cheer me up. She gives me hugs and kisses and asks me if I'm okay. "You okay, Mommy, you okay?" I love her.
Robert is cleaning everything. It's funny. I cleaned a lot for his family, and he's cleaning a lot for mine. I guess we just try to impress the in-laws :).

Wits End. . .
You know that time, right between Thanksgiving break and finals--more towards the finals part than the Thanksgiving break--that you realize crunch time has passed and you're moving right into judgement day. You seem to recall things like, 'Oh yeah, I was supposed to do that between the turkey and Muppet's Christmas Carol.' Well, people, I'm there.
That was a nice first trimester--technically I'm still in it for a few more days--or a month, depending on who's counting. . . lol.
I slept through the "rationally busy, yet prepared" stage, and I napped through most of the "frantically losing my mind in Christmas decorating and house cleaning". . . now I am smack dab in the middle of "The Savior slept in a manger that first Christmas, right?" also known as "what can I get by without doing--does my family really need clean sheets?"
I've been trying to clean my room since the week before Thanksgiving. Our washing machine broke 3 days ago. (Maybe a blessing in disguse, seeing that the poor old-timer must've lived through its lifetime warrantee 3 or 4 times--no joke). Robert and I can't decide on how to do the bathroom, or find the time to do it. His parents are coming in on Wed. My parents will be here 2-3 days after they leave. We planned a bunch of remodeling projects for over Thanksgiving break and accomplished none of them, but started a few of them.
Accomplishment for the day: excluding a present for my parents, and either Becky or Sandi (depending on whom I choose to give what to), I am FINISHED Christmas shopping. (*I know that you're all applauding, and I can hear it loud and clear). Thank you, Thank you. There's something to be said for online shopping :D.

Feeling Blah. . .
I have so much to do. Seriously. I love the holidays. . . when Mom's (as in Mrs. Gardner's) in charge. I haven't even gotten gifts together yet. I can't even find room for that on my to-do list! Oh well--Robert only needs two dinky gifts, right (although I'm not sure one is coming). One will be from me and the other from the kids. I got each of the kids a 5 dollar toy, too. . . so they have something. Maybe I could make them share both and one could be from their parents, and the other from Santa. They're too little to really know that other kids probably get more than one gift, right? Totally. And we can introduce stockings (and stocking stuffers) another year. . . lol. No, I probably should do that one. I wonder if I have enough newspaper to wrap their gifts in :D. Oh yeah, and my parents are coming--I wonder if they'd like giftcards?
