No Rest for the Wicked

I honestly feel evil today. I'm not really any meaner, or louder, or dirtier, or anything like that--I'm just super lazy. I would probably commit any number of terrible atrocities if I thought they would be an end to the means--the end being a nap--or even a chance to sit down with my eyes closed for an extended period of time.

I rather dislike Thursdays. They let me know how much I depend on Robert--especially now. That man does pretty much everything but breathe for me. Alas, he 'forgot' to make me and the kids dinner ;-}. Guess I'll make pizza again tonight--or maybe spaghetti--or maybe just some cheese sticks and some apple juice.

Then again, watching Robert work makes me feel even more tired. What has he done since we've been home? (not counting taking care of the kids almost all day)

Unpacked from our trip all by himself--unless you count the three or four trips I took (we even brought a U-haul back--I told him to call someone to help, but he had it done before I could find the ward list).

Finished framing the basement except for the last wall (we need it open so we can get the tub in more easily).

Started the electrical and drywall.

Painted the new storage room floor and wall, and Moved most of the food onto the fancy new shelves from his parents.

Put in a door.

Started prepping the three bedrooms upstairs for carpeting--including shopping around for the best deal, getting my approval (no easy task), removing furniture, handling the estimate guy, and soon he'll tear up the carpets and put up the tack strips around the edges of the room and we'll (err. . . umm. . . he'll mostly) paint two of the rooms. We'll have about one day (maybe two) to put all of the furniture back before my parents come--two days before the baby--his response--'that's plenty of time.' I believe him, too. He's that crazy. He wants to get it all done before school starts again.

Later this summer he hopes to: put in a driveway, cut out two of the windows in the basement for a new guest bedroom and replace all of the others, install a tub and sink in the basement bathroom, drywall all of the walls, mud and texturize and paint the walls, install the internet downstairs, build counters in the laundry room, build a playroom under the stairs, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting.

We had planned on a carport and a backyard fence, but I think he cut those out. Let's not loose our minds, now :D.

Oh, Oh, and I should mention--at his parents a router chewed up the top of his finger--he had 8 stitches--he's been working with that!

What have I done since we've gotten back? It seems like there should have been something. I did some nice couponing--two trips (I dropped off Robert and the kids at a park for the duration). I went to a birthday party (couldn't handle both kids, so I left Nana at home--with Robert). I put up a bulletin board (although Robert helped). I loaded the dishwasher once and unloaded it twice. I made a pizza, spaghetti, taco soup, another pizza, cheese sticks, yogurt, pudding cups, and leftovers for dinners (I also made Nana a PB&J once--but Robert's mostly done lunches). Ummmm. . . I push play on Nana's movies (when Robert doesn't). I gave the kids a bath a few times (Robert would have, but his finger. . . he still did a couple times). I did a few loads of laundry (they aren't folded yet). Well. . . you get the idea. I feel horribly lazy, and horribly bad about it, because Robert has done SO much (and a lot of it was with Eenie and Nana underfoot--Eenie is cute with a hammer). I didn't even talk about all the car stuff he's done, or the shopping, or the meetings he's had. . . Ugh, I'm going to go clean something so I don't feel as evil.

Happy 4th Anniversary, Honey!

Isn't he cute?

A few things we've accomplished together these last four years:

Mastered the kissing thing (lol)

26 months of pregnancy

1,157 days of parenthood
Magnified 10 callings (we hope)

Took a class together (that was really fun)

Bought first car

Made it through numerous heated conversations

Went to Hawaii (thanks Mom and Dad Johnson)
Sang at the Stadium of Fire

Excelled in BYU choirs (at least one of us)

Graduated from BYU (at least one of us, again)

Took a road trip from Utah to New York to Florida and back

Bought second car

Moved across country

Bought first house

Remodeled much of that first house

Finished first year of medical school
And so much more! . . .

We may have also digressed a bit--we are certainly not as lovey-dovey as we were once, and it's not as easy to spend time together because of our increased responsibilities . . . but I love being married to you, Robert. Love-Loves.

CPCC

Cuddle Prevention Committee Chairperson

Robert has given me a new title. Poor guy. When I'm pregnant I can't stand people touching me. It used to make me really sick--now I just altogether avoid it. Occasionally, I'll hold my babies on my lap or give them a hug--but any long-term closeness (*shudder). Maybe it's my ever-growing, uncomfortable body--or maybe it's my heightened sense of smell (when I'm pregnant Joanna and Robert kinda smell weird--at least Enoch doesn't). . . I'm not sure.

I feel bad for Robert. He has to gargle with mouthwash for a good 30 seconds, then make sure his lips are completely dry before I can let him peck me on the mouth goodnight. Very annoying. And he pretty much sleeps on the very edge of his side of the bed--because there is a strict no-touching policy (I am SO warm at night). I'm pretty sure one night I'll sneeze in his direction and blow him right onto the floor.

Well. . . I'm like 21 1/2 weeks along. We're over half way there. It will be better soon. Hang in there, Sweetie.

Hurray for Insomnia

Last night Robert and I had a bad case of insomnia--Him because he had school issues on the brain, me because I kept having to get up to use the bathroom. Anyway, both of us were up from about 4:30 to 6am. I would usually be annoyed, but it was AWESOME! I never get time to talk to Robert anymore (I'm always trying to get him to sit by me and just talk, but he jumps at every little sound the kids make--he's an extremely attentive father), but I had him all to myself last night. It was great to just be goofy again. We talked about some important things, too--like how it's probably best to just ignore people trying to get into a debate about why their views are moral and open-minded, and people that disagree with them are not. Other than that. . . I think I drew a tattoo on his arm (it says I 'heart' ALICE), doodled some storm troopers/jedi knights/Darth Vader (Darth is pretty hard to draw, and all of my storm troopers had the helmet of Bobo Phat [is that how you say his name?], but whatever), then we had some fun with the words "junk", "garbage", and the phrase, "You can't trash talk a garbageman's daughter," which, apparently, is something I told him during my Dad's stint with waste management. I don't remember saying it at all. I hope we both get insomnia again tonight. Maybe Robert will come up with another hilarious saying that he thinks I said ;D. Lo0O0ove you, Honey.

BTW, does anyone know the name of the girl in the song "Hey ___ ___, You're a fine girl (such a fine girl), what a good wife you would be--but my life, my love, my lady, is the sea. Dododo dodo dodododo." Robert thought it was "Brandy," is that right? Speaking of Dodo. . . Enoch stinks really bad. Bye.

Why I love Robert (In no particular order)

He looks super hot in his karate pants--even if he kind of looks silly using an exercize ball.

He takes Joanna to the beach. AND cleans her up afterward.

He says things like "rationalizing isn't THAT bad."

He does my bidding when it comes to fixing up the house. (Thanks for the new light and window shade, sweetums.)

He listens to my ramblings about how cool my friends are and he pays attention when I talk to him about the impressions I get when I go to church things. (Julie B. Beck in Pittsburg was great! I'm so glad I was able to go with my friend, Danielle, and then meet up with the other sisters.)

He practically cooks (good food!) the entire weekend.

He studies hard, but every so often, he makes me and the kids feel so comfortable before and after, that I hardly notice how much time he's taking to read his books.

He shows me up at a lot of things, actually, but that's okay, I'm glad I married up!

Glum, Glum (aka, don't read if you are susceptible to depression)

Okay, lately I've been in some sort of deep funk... I can't seem to do anything (at least not well), or turn my thoughts into more productive ones. Berate, Berate, Berate. (But Hey, at least I'm not interrupting people as much :D). So, I'm way behind on posting. I was going to sit down and throw up a few scrapbook pages, maybe talk about how awesome the plans I have to decorate my house are, ummm... I'm sure there was something else..., but really I don't feel like posting much right now. So here are a few pictures--you can make of them what you will. I might go take a nap.
Robert made good bread--4 loaves
Seth came to visit and interview at LECOM. Keep your fingers crossed.
My fairy prince. Apparently, when he sleeps, his wings come out. (*picture not staged--notice the princess blanket and dragon)
Our new floor.
Asbury park. They have cool puppets.

Some Guy I Dated (ie Making fun of Robert)

Sometimes I wonder what my old boyfriend is up to (although he never let me call him that). I remember he was way into medieval things, had a collection of old blankets that he made himself, sewed his own scrubs, had a sense of humor like Strong Bad (sometimes a voice like him too), wouldn't watch all of The Lord of the Rings because it was too violent, and still lived with his mom. Here's the good part. He's the one who broke up with ME! Alas, he's probably going to turn out to be a billionare like Bill Gates. He was super smart. Ay me. (PS, everyone can tell this is Robert, right?) (PPS, This post was his idea.)

Po' Boy

I'm really proud of Robert. He has been doing great at LECOM. He studies so hard. He makes sure that he doesn't study on Sunday still. I have to say, I didn't think he could pull it off, but he really has--and I love that all of Sunday feels normal--like it did before all this crazy med school stuff. Here he is studying late Saturday night for a test on Monday.

Side Effects of Medical School

Here's an example of Robert after his first two weeks of medical school. He's spent a lot of time trying to memorize every part of the human body; so he's been in his room with no company except his anatomy books--need I say more.

Our Yard Has the Blues

Hooray for Craig's List! This wonderful, thoughtful young lady put a free swingset online. We nabbed it as soon as we could. Joanna loves it. Every time she uses it she gets a stick to make sure there aren't any spiderwebs. We've noticed that our yard is turning blue. We have a blue hammock, blue swings, blue camp chairs and a blue shed. If we paint the other shed blue, only the plants won't be blue in our yard! (Our house and even our trash cans are also blue).

Palmyra and the Temple

Robert and I haven't been able to go to the temple for a long time. Things got way too busy with school and the kids and then moving. However, since Michelle was here, we were able to take a babysitter with us instead of having to leave the kids for eight hours (six hours driving), which is something difficult for a nursing mother. Before we did a session, Michelle went in and we waited for her by taking a stroll through the sacred grove.

The Spirit is strong here. It feels as if Joseph Smith saw Jesus Christ and the Father only a week ago instead of coming on two centuries.

Summerfest

Robert and his... ummm... former mission companion. I will never forget the day these two walked into my life. (Try as I might... lol) Isn't he a cutie? (Robert, that is--although he's not available). We met up at Orem's Summerfest for a mini-reunion before Steve (glasses) left us for Taiwan. We wish him well. We'll miss him.
