Irreconcilable Differences

Nana doesn't want to go to the potty.
I want her to.

Nana will take off her diaper to mess on the floor.
I don't want her to.

Nana won't sit on the potty seat.
I fail at bribing her.

Nana will run naked through the house all day.
I don't let her.

Nana loves toilet paper.
I'm running out of toilet paper.

Nana doesn't want her diapers, but she also doesn't want the potty. . .
I just want the stink to stop.

Ali Mae,
We're working on the same thing. It is day two, and so far it's alright, but who knows. Anyway, I've tried chocolate chips for a bribe. One to sit on the potty and then one if she goes. I know you're not supposed to reward with food but... Good Luck!!!

Good Luck!
Rachel is a little more amiable but she has only started to tell us she needs to go this week... after Evan yelled at her for peeing in the living room and then going and sitting smack dab in the middle of my side of the bed. So there were three messes to clean up.
We're trying to get away from the food reward but I don't know what we would have done instead.

I don't get it. I thought you just tell your child what they're supposed to do and they do it. If they won't do it you just say, "I'm in charge," and then that works. Isn't that how it goes?

Alice,
If she still wants to be a princess tell her they wear Big girl undies and that they DO NOT go potty on the floor or in diapers. Or try what worked for Taylon Buy a toy she really want's then when she goes a few times give it to her. but if she wets somewhere besides the potty take it away.I thought that might help :) It has kinda helped Addi start potty training.(The princess thing)
good luck.

I totally forgot that you call Joanna "Nana", so I was picturing an 85 year old. And that was disturbing.

ohh little Nana....I still think its funny about nursing and changing positions....lol...still makes me chuckle out loud writing this...LOL..okay, laugh really. Kortni read some book or something, and got a big tupperware....filled it with cool things Max likes...and bribed him...that he could pick anything out of there he wanted if he pottied in the toilet. it worked...and hes young for a boy to be potty trained. we bribed with food...they say not to, but if its temporary, its fine.

ANyhow...good luck! ;-)

as soon as my kids quit pukin...maybe we can hang out ? ;-)

I honestly wish I could help you in some way but the only thing I can do is wish you all the luck in the world. I can't even imagine trying to potty train anyone. Good luck. Ya, we should totally go sledding sometime during the day.
